Sequoia & Kings Canyon
Boy, we were on the road for about 9 hours today driving through Sequoia and Kings Canyon. What an amazing day. First a very slow curvy road that seemed to go on forever but then the reward. These huge, huge trees that are over 2000 years old. They aren't as tall and the redwoods and really about as wide at the base but they are much wider all the way up. The General Sherman tree is the largest (per total volume) tree in the world. They are all huge and the surrounding area is so beautiful.
Then we drove on to Kings Canyon. At first it just seemed like a pretty drive thru a pine forest but then we came to the actual canyon. Words cannot describe how amazing this canyon is. It drops thousands of feet.
It was a good day !
