Grand Isle
It is a gorgeous day at Grand Isle. We drove thru Louisiana delta country where there is more water than land. They have a bunch of intercoastal waterways with big fishing boats parked along the way. Donnie was worried that the campground was going to be like the Keys where we were surrounded by water. But, he's ok... we have a large sand dune between us and the water of the Gulf. The little town of Grand Isle is not too tiny. Looks like a major resort town with beach rentals all along the way. All of the buildings are up on tall stilts for when they get a major tropical storm I imagine. I would sure hate to have to drag groceries up all those stairs.
The beach is a little odd ... more the consistency of mud than sand but still nice. We will be here until Friday.
