Destrehan Plantation, Hot day

Boats on the Mississippi

Whew, hot. It was about 84 today with a low of 63 last night. We went to another plantation that is just a few miles from the KOA park. It is the oldest remaining plantation on the lower Mississippi River. It was very nice with lovely old live oaks around it. It still had all of the original bricks and cypress joists. It had been very nicely restored. It is lovely that they have been able to save so many of these plantation houses.

We drove thru a neighborhood trying to find a post office and for their McMansions here it's like Gone with the Wind. Huge and gorgeous with big pillars.

Tomorrow we take off for the Gulf of Mexico and Grande Isle.
