Vicksburg and Hattiesburg Mississippi

I thought that I would add pictures of the inside of our little house for those who haven't seen it. It's only 22' long but seems just the right size to us !

We went to Vicksburg yesterday to tour the Vicksburg National Military Park. It has the story of the battle & siege of Vicksburg during the Civil War. There is a National Cemetary where approximately 13,000 union soldiers are buried. One of the most interesting parts was an old iron-clad boat that had been sunk with an underwater mine in 1862. They raised the boat in 1960 and reconstructed it. Many of the items that were on the boat are in a museum. Most of them were almost perfectly preserved. It was very interesting.

Historic Vicksburg had lots of old buildings and they had put up gas lights on the street corners which was very cool.

We are now just outside of Hattiesburg, Mississippi at a beautiful state park camped by the lake. However, it is quite cool and showery today. The state parks in Mississippi are great. We have full hookups right down by the lake for $14. It's amazing how full the campground is today even tho it is rainy and cold. I guess when you leave where it gets so hot and humid in the summer, you do your camping in February.

Off to the panhandle of Florida tomorrow.
