Wow, the world's best kept secret. Louisiana State parks are fabulous. They accept Donnie's Golden Access pass so we are able to camp for $9 a night for electric, water & wifi. The park is just beautiful here north of Lafayette in the middle of Cajun country. There is a state park near New Orleans and one out on the Gulf of Mexico. I'll just have to plan around the weekends cuz they are more booked up. We actually have a wooden deck next to our trailer pad. Unbelievable.
There are several interesting things to do. There is an arboretum (exhibits of living, natural plants etc). There is a Cajun cultural center in a small town called Eunice that also has a Saturday night live radio broadcast from a theatre there. We may need to stay over Saturday night to take that in. Of course, I think that we will need to check out the Cajun food !
