Yuma Quartermasters Depot and Territorial Prison

Imperial Dunes just outside Yuma in California

We went sightseeing today in Yuma. Went first to the visitors center and the Quartermaster Depot. The Depot was used to supply the army in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Southern Utah and West Texas from 1864 to 1877. It housed enough ammunition, clothing and food for 6 months.

We then went to the old Territorial prison. It was used from 1876 to 1909. It was very interesting. Made you glad that you weren't a prisoner back then in the 110 heat with 6 guys in a cell 8 x 12. Yikes.

The weather is gorgeous. We are in short sleeves today.
