Snow, Rain, Rain...stuck on the wrong side of the mountain

What a wild day we had yesterday. We decided to drive the 100 miles around the long way to Scotty's Castle because I definitely wanted to see that before we left. It was snowing at the top of the pass which should have given an indication of things to come. The tour of Scotty's Castle was amazing...what a great story behind that place. When we left there, however, it was snowing hard which then turned to pouring rain.

By the time we got back down to the road back into the park, it was closed. We had to go get a room at a little motel/casino for the night. They did a great job of getting the road back open and we were able to get back to the trailer early this morning.

Leave it to us to get to Death Valley during the second wettest January in history. Their normal rainfall is 1.5 " per year and we had 2.2 inches yesterday alone.

Oh, well.... fun anyway.
