Washington DC !

Shenandoah Skyline Drive

Greenbelt Ntl Park Camping

We made it out of Shenandoah today in the pouring rain. By the time that we had driven to Washington DC the rain had let up so we were able to set up camp while it was dry. This Greenbelt Ntl Park is amazing. We are in the middle of a beautiful hardwood forest just a few miles from the heart of Washington DC. We just had two deer walk by the trailer.

We are about 2 miles from the Metro station where we will go tomorrow to ride the subway into the Mall. The Mall is where all of the Smithsonian Museums are and the Lincoln Monument, Washington Monument, the Capitol building etc. We can stay here at the park for only $8 a night with Donnie's Access Pass discount. The camp host is so friendly and helpful with all sorts of brochures and maps.

I'm so excited !!! I loved Washington DC when we were here several years ago. We will take Donnie's wheelchair with us because there is so much walking to do. We can also pack a little lunch and some water bottles that we can take in everywhere except the Capitol building. The Mall has a large greenspace (park) in the middle so we can eat there.
